Archie and Clemmie decided to move to San Antonio, Texas so Sylvia could attend Sunshine Cottage School for Deaf Children, where the course of study enabled her to live and work in the hearing world. She attended Robert E. Lee High School, graduating in 1965. Sylvia worked at Frost Bank for fifty-two years. She raised two loving children: Phillip and Cynthia. Sylvia loved her family, but her one weakness was Mexican food, always up to go to a restaurant.
Sylvia will be reunited in heaven with his parents; Archie and Clemmie Smith. She will always be remembered by her two children; Phillip Slaughter and wife Laura, and Cynthia Shaw and husband Shawn; grandchildren, Clementine Slaughter, Hailey Shaw, and Shawn Shaw Jr.
