On Monday, September 23, 2013, Teresa (Terri) Lynn McCrae died after a long battle with diabetes. She was born in Washington, D.C. on December 1, 1960 and raised in Annapolis, Maryland to the late Frances Dabney McCrae who died in 1971.
She is survived by her father, James Murdock McCrae and step-mother Carol; her two brothers, William and James; her step-siblings, Lori, David, and Keith; her many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, two great-nieces; her devoted dog, Bo and friends.
In 1970 the family moved to Creve Coeur, Missouri. After her mother's death they moved to Plano, Texas and eventually settled in San Antonio.
Terri graduated in 1978 from John Marshall High School and later attended college in San Marcos, Texas. After many years of struggling with diabetes, she received a double transplant of a kidney and pancreas; a first in that part of Texas. She was then able to pursue her dream of going back to school and receive a nursing degree. Terri had many accomplishments under trying circumstances. She walked down paths most of us never have traveled. She strove to be kind to those who needed it, to help and to support. More than she knew, Terri touched many lives with her gentle caring soul.
Services will be private with a memorial celebration of Terri's life to be planned for a later date.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation/Team Terri McCrae. A race will be held on October 19, 2013. For direct link to Team Terri McCrae email [email protected].
