Terris Manley Thompson, 80, passed peacefully in her sleep on Monday April 20, 2026. Terris was a beloved, feisty maternal figure for family, friends, the numerous patients she cared for and anyone she ever met. She was born to Marshall and Marjorie Manley on March 28, 1946. The second daughter of four wonderfully rambunctious daughters.
She is preceded in death by both parents, sisters Shellie, Marilee and Joni. Many other close family and friends also stand in the afterlife waiting to get her hugs and kisses. That those of us left behind already miss so much.
Terris is survived by her children Michael Brann of Burlington, WA, Sean (Holly) Northrop of San Antonio, TX, Sterrin (Kelly) Brown of San Antonio, TX, and Shiloh (Allisa) McMasters of Tucson, AZ and husband James Cape Her grandbabies Cody Cate, Danielle, Hanna, Chelsie, Angelica, Nicholas and Logan.
Her open door and generosity extended to all that came in contact with her, there are too many to list, but we all know she loved us. Terris was a Nurse Practitioner who served many with competence, grit, and a low tolerance for nonsense. As recently as three months ago, she was caring for patients in and around Northern Arizona with the Navajo Nation.
Terris impacted everyone she met during her 80 years, whether it was at a Solstice party in yet another backyard, coffee after a Twelve-Step meeting, or an exam room where finally her patients felt heard. Her humor was sharp and her wit was quicker.
She had recently earned her 33-year chip on March 3rd. An accomplishment she wore with well-earned pride and a beautiful smile. Terris was a fierce advocate for human rights, LGBTQ+ community and voted blue down every ballot. She started life as a witty child full of questions, loved a book and was ready to learn throughout her lifetime. Terris never shied away from teaching anyone she met about everything she knew, and the acceptance of all. She never shied away from showering everyone she knew the love they deserved.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a cause that you believe she would champion, or do something practical and kind for someone who needs it. Terris always appreciated results.
A celebration of life will be held at Sunset Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Hwy, San Antonio, TX 78218 on May 16th at 2PM.
