

Thomas Eugene Kersey, known to all as Tom, passed away peacefully into the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, in San Antonio, Texas on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, on his 87th birthday. He was born in Des Moines, Iowa on March 26, 1938, to Harold Edward Kersey and Beverly Lorraine Buehrer Kersey.
Tom grew up in Des Moines, Iowa where he met and married his wife of 63 years, Kathleen Iris Kersey. They both attended Roosevelt High School. Tom graduated from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering. He joined AT&T Long Lines, where he worked in Chicago, IL; Manhattan, NY; White Plains, New Jersey; Cincinnati, Ohio; and Denver, CO over a career of 35 years. He also spent a short time with IBM before starting another career with Lowes for 15 years before finally retiring. He loved building and working with wood, masonry and just about anything, travel, camping, hiking and long walks with Kathy, as well as spending cherished time with his very large family. Tom is survived by his five children: Randy Kersey (Darlene), Suzanne Wiers (Carl), Wendy Hudson (Mike), Doug Kersey (Becky), and Brenda Cutbirth (Travis); twenty-five grandchildren: Reagan (Ashley), Jonathon (Amy), Hope, Faith, Rachel (Zack), Ali (Josh), David (Corinne), Jonny, Timothy (Maddy), Emily, Anna, Jordan (Will), Joshua, Daniel (Abbie), Jonathan (Emilee), Benjamin, Timothy, Samuel, Annika, Lenny, Anna (Garrett), Benjamin, Chloe (Shane), Nico, and Asher; fourteen great grandchildren: Hudson, Emerson, William, Emily, Westley, Charlie, Wilder, Willy, Jesse, Daniel, Lucia,and Nehemiah, Jude, Daisy; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Kathy, his parents, his brother John, and his grandson David.
