Thomas David Snyder, 57, of San Antonio, Texas passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on December 15, 2023. Tom was born on July 23, 1966, in Coshocton, Ohio to David and Marilyn Snyder. Throughout his younger years, Tom had the opportunity to experience life in several parts of the country. He especially enjoyed the early years in Pleasanton, Texas and then later in Boise, Idaho where he graduated from Boise High School.
Tom returned to Texas, in 1984 to continue his education at University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) and thereafter made San Antonio his permanent home. While attending UTSA, Tom founded Pool Mart, a pool service, warranty, and repair company that would become his life's work and passion. Pool Mart's reputation for excellent pool care service was known everywhere, with regular customers requesting services as far as five hundred miles away. His company represented the work ethic and commitment to quality work that Tom instilled in his employees. He ran Pool Mart for 30 years, the last five working together with his wife, Donna.
While pool care was a passion of Tom's, the greatest joy in life was his son David, born in San Antonio, Texas, December 28, 1999. As a single parent for the first 13 years of David's life, Tom's days were full of volunteer hours at David's school, attending David's sporting events and participating with David in the Boy Scouts of America (BSA), including camp outs and a trip to the National Jamboree.
He had an amazing group of diverse life-long friends ranging from Boy Scouts, ACTS Retreat participants, work colleagues and neighbors. He loved fly fishing in Idaho and bass fishing at the Texas coast.
Toms' motto was "work hard, play hard and love harder". This became more evident when Tom met Donna in 2008. Their marriage was the perfect blend of working together at Pool Mart and taking adventures to the mountains for rock hounding, or to a beautiful beach to enjoy the sand and sunrises. Tom and Donna shared many happy years together. In recent years, as Tom's health began to decline, Donna was by his side, helping to take care of his needs and keeping a cheerful outlook. Tom made it easy by staying positive and living into his favorite quote: "When life throws you a curve, lean into it".
Tom is survived by his wife Donna, of San Antonio, his son David, of Austin, mother, Marilyn Snyder of Boise Idaho, sister, Tracie and brother-in-law Matt of Boise, stepmother Mary Snyder, stepbrothers Eric and Matt Fenner, stepdaughters Allison and Erin and their sons Silas and Luca, along with numerous cousins and extended family members. Tom is preceded in death by his beloved father, the family is comforted by knowing they have been reunited.
