

Thomas H. "Tom" Streeter, age 94, of San Antonio passed away on May 29, 2017. He was born in Woodland, MS to Harvey B. Streeter and Maude Hoke on June 2, 1922. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jean Streeter and brothers and sisters, Francis Wall, Bob Streeter, Mary Lou Hindsman and Kenneth Streeter. Thomas is survived by his daughters, Tommie Jean Zwernemann, Tracy E. Lindsay and husband Sonny; sons, Terry Streeter and wife Donna, Kent Streeter and wife Becky; grandchildren, Michael Streeter, Grant Streeter, Tyler Streeter, Travis Streeter, Max Zwernemann, Alex Zwernemann, Mia Carrola and Gianni Carrola; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps as a Naval Aviator in WWII and Korea. He was Honorably Discharged in April 1958 with a rank of Major. He then entered College at Arkansas State Teachers College where he received a B.S. in Education. It was there that he met the love of his life, Mary Jean Streeter. This encounter would be the beginning of a beautiful relationship, leading to a marriage lasting over 54 years.
Tom began a successful and satisfying career with State Farm Insurance Company in 1953 and retired as an Agency Manager in 1985. He coached and mentored many agents throughout his tenure and was respected and loved by everyone he met. He was a man of faith and was an active member of First Baptist Church in downtown San Antonio. He also supported many local charities and civic organizations.
He was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time in his garden. He was known by friends and neighbors as being the 'jokester'. Tom will be fondly remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 9, 2017 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. with Service at 1:00 p.m. at Porter Loring North Chapel. A private Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org.
