On April 3, 2026, Good Friday, Tim entered into the presence of the Lord. Just as Jesus promised, “Today you will be with me in Paradise,” we take comfort knowing Tim is now reunited with his beloved wife, Nanette and joyfully celebrating with the friends and family who have gone before him.
Tim Kanapi left behind a legacy of faith, generosity, and unwavering dedication to his family.
Tim is survived by his loving family: his daughter, Kerry Thompson, and her husband, Ira; his grandson, Isaiah; his son, Patrick Kanapi, and daughter-in-law, Michelle; and his granddaughter, Quinn. He was a devoted father, grandfather, and patriarch whose presence will be deeply missed.
At just 18 years old, Tim made the courageous decision to leave the Philippines and to serve the US Navy. His service was driven by a deep sense of responsibility to support his mother, Herminia, who was tragically widowed when he was just two years old. He faithfully sent money home to help send his four brothers, Freddy, Monchie, Bio, and Gerry, to college for the hope of a better future.
This bold step marked the beginning of a new life in the US, one defined by hard work, sacrifice, and perseverance. During this time, he began corresponding with letters to Nanette, who would later become his beloved wife. They settled in San Antonio, where he had relatives, started a family of their own, and began building a close-knit community of Filipino friends and family whose bonds lasted a lifetime.
Tim earned his Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences from Southwest Texas State University and enjoyed a successful career as a computer programmer, retiring after a long tenure with VIA Metropolitan Transit.
A devoted Christian, Tim loved the Lord and lived out his faith through fellowship, kindness, and a giving spirit. He achieved true wealth by having a devoted family, loyal friends, and, above all, a faithful God.
“Well done, good and faithful servant… Enter into the joy of your Lord.” Matthew 25:23
Tim’s life was marked by courageous sacrifice, steadfast faith, and enduring love for his family. As written in Psalm 103:17 TPT, God is faithful to keep every promise He’s made passing from Tim, to his children, to grandchildren, beyond. His legacy lives on.
