Todd Douglas Colburn, age 49, passed away at home the morning of Monday, May 19, 2025, after a long but fierce battle with colon cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family as God embraced him and welcomed him home.
Todd was born on October 16, 1975, in Victoria, Texas, to Ronald Douglas Colburn of Winters, Texas, and Deborah Ann Colburn (Hutto) of Del Rio, Texas. He graduated from Del Rio High School in 1994 and attended Texas A&M in College Station. Todd’s love of travel and adventure led him to a degree in Travel & Tourism from A&M, which he received in 1998. Todd served as the Executive Director of the Paseo Del Rio Association in San Antonio which led him to become a Meeting & Event planner delivering such events as the premier of John Lee Hancock’s 2004 remake of The Alamo, the 100th Anniversary of the Ford F-150 Truck, and ultimately as the system wide Event Director of the University of California system.
Todd’s heart was as big as Texas quietly helping those less fortunate than himself whether that be those also fighting cancer, those financially struggling, or elderly who were alone. He had a specific passion for shelter and rescue animals -especially dogs.
He is survived by his husband, Stephen Lancaster-Hall (San Antonio); his father, Ronald Colburn (Winters, TX); his sister and brother-in-law, Shannon and John Hicks (San Marcos); his sister-in-law, brother-in-law, and nephews, Suzanne, Paul, Ian and Evan Sealey (Melbourne, Victoria, Australia); and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends. He is preceded in death by his mother, Deborah Ann Colburn; his grandparents John “Marvin” Hutto and Margaret Helen Hutto (Del Rio), Calvin Douglas Colburn and Cleo Belle Colburn (Winters); and his uncle Derrell Colburn (Winters).
The family would like to thank and acknowledge Todd’s medical team that fought so hard for him and treated him with compassion and deep care. Specifically, we would like to acknowledge Dr. Scott Ulmer & Frederica Gilmore (The START Center), Dr. Jason Willis (MD Anderson Cancer Center – Houston), Dr. Seemah Izfar and Dr. Cannon Lewis (colorectal surgeons), Dr. Geoff Weikle (Methodist Stone Oak Hospital), Dr. Neil Chevli (radiation oncology), Dr. Habib Salameh (Gastroenterology), and Dr. Michael White (Urology) in addition to the many nurses and nurse practitioners who cared for him through his many cancer treatments. We would also like to thank Christus Palliative & Hospice-care for the compassion and dedication you gave to Todd during his end of life.
The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, May 27th, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Porter Loring Mortuary North (2102 North Loop 1604 East at Gold Canyon, San Antonio, TX 78232).
A short commitment ceremony will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery on Wednesday, May 28th promptly at 10:15 AM immediately followed by a Celebration of Life Fiesta at La Paloma Blanca (5800 Broadway #300, San Antonio, TX 78209) from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, both Todd and the family request that a donation be made in his name to either The Colon Cancer Coalition or San Antonio Pets Alive both of which had missions that Todd was deeply passionate about.
