October 4, 1933- December 10, 2015
Tommy Moore went home for Christmas December 10, 2015, held gently by his wife and daughters.
Tommy was born Oct. 4, 1933 to Thomas Marshall Moore and Mary Eva Wigginton Moore in Belton, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert Lee Moore, and sister Jonita Smith. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Doylene Jennings Moore, daughters Tiffany Mezo and Chelsey Moore, three sisters, Mary Nell Pirtle, Eva Louise Hughes, and Carol Griffith, and numerous nieces and nephews. Also survived by “sisters” Ann Jennings and Susan Culwell Belken, grandnephew Kayden Jennings Wood, and Tommy’s furry companion Lilly.
After serving in the army, Tommy went to work for the State Board of Insurance. He went from there to the company ranks, and started Tom Moore and Assoc. in 1973. He was an insurance agent for over 60+ years, and never compromised his impeccable integrity, always doing the very best for clients, who became friends. He served on numerous boards, and wrote the first program for mini-storage warehouses.
A Founding Member of The Fellowship of San Antonio in Stone Oak, Tommy served as Deacon and Elder. Tommy loved God and his savior Jesus Christ, his family, and many, many friends. He loved Dr. Larry Wood, who gave him the Gift of Life with a kidney transplant in 2012.
Tommy will be greatly missed by all who knew him. But Tommy went to his eternal home for Christmas, and that is reason to celebrate.
Special thanks to Dr. Vijay Gunuganti and Guiding Light Hospice--Susan, Toby, Sarah, Scott, and Maria for their loving care of the whole family.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of your choice, or to The Fellowship of San Antonio. A memorial service will be held on December 30 at 2pm at The Fellowship of San Antonio in Stone Oak.
