Vester “Joe” Nichols, age 65, went to be with our Heavenly Father on Saturday, January 22, 2022 in San Antonio. He was born on November 7, 1956 to Roscoe Vester Nichols & Betty Lane Noble in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Joe was a generous, talented most humble person you would ever meet. With 48 yrs of long haul trucking experience, and long hours on the road, there was never a moment Joe never thought about any of his family or friends. He was a kid on the outside but a loving son, brother, husband, Father, grandfather, great grandfather, at heart.
Throughout his career, he formed many meaningful relationships including Ronny Walker and William (Elvis) Thomas. Joe left a lasting impact on everyone he worked with. When he wasn’t truck driving during the week, he devoted much of his time to his church on the weekends. He felt moved to preach and share his love for music being one of the most talented guitar players we know even though he said otherwise. A few great memories of his was playing music with such great friends Charles Denney & his wife Joanie. Because Joe was such a giving person, he couldn’t help but to feed all of his family and friends and those in need regardless if you wanted it or not. You could have considered yourself lucky getting a taste of his food and his mountain of ribs he prepared for the whole block.
He was preceded in death by his father; Roscoe Vester Nichols, and grandparents, Ina and Lee Lane. Joe is survived by his loving wife, Ilda Nichols; and mother, Betty Lane Noble. Joe will truly be missed by numerous family and friends including his late fathers wife, Karen Nichols; sister, Jane Dudley and her husband Greg; brother, Kyle Noble and his wife Charlotte; daughter, Mindy Gill and her husband Jeremy; son, Joey Nichols and his wife Milissa.
He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren; Joseph Nichols, Hannah Gill, Jacob Nichols and his wife Kristen, Jordan Nichols, Kassie Nichols, along with his great granddaughter, Jaylan Nichols; numerous nieces and nephews and his large church family.
Joe Nichols may not be here physically but his loving memories will always be with us. He was sent to us by our father to do the work of the lord to minister. Go unto the world and share the gospel. Which is exactly what he did. As Joe would say, “I love you and I’ll talk to you soon”.
The family will receive friends from 6:00p.m. to 9:00p.m., Sunday, January 30, 2022 at Porter Loring Mortuary.
