Virginia was born to Claude and Alburnie Peacock on September 21, 1926 in Rockford Illinois. She was a beautiful and precocious little strawberry blond who loved to dance and sing and play practical jokes on her older sister.
On August 18, 1946 she married the love of her life Robert (Bob) Howard Davis in Rockford Illinois. They went on to have two children, Jeffrey Robert Davis and Virginia Leigh (Davis) Hockman.
Sadly, on August 18, 1964 the love of her life unexpectedly passed away from a heart attack at their home in Alamo Heights. It was their 18th wedding anniversary.
Virginia later went on to remarry to Russell F. Linley in February 1969. They had many good years together traveling the world. He introduced her to the Shriners and their hospitals for children. Russell passed away March 27, 1996.
Virginia was a licensed insurance agent and she and Bob owned their own insurance agency. She later also became a real estate agent. She was a Past President of Insurance Women of Texas and an avid supporter of that organization. She was also involved in the Daughters of the Nile both in San Angelo and San Antonio. She danced with the Dancers Unit and sang with the Chorus Unit. She was recently awarded her Nile 25-year membership pin.
She was also active in the San Antonio Conservation Society and Fiesta. Making paper flowers for NIOSA was a joy of hers for many years. She also helped in the Fiesta store when needed.
Virginia is predeceased by her parents and one sister, Dorothy Peacock Thurlby. She is also predeceased by her grandson Robert James Hockman. She is survived by her son Jeffrey Robert Davis, her daughter Virginia Leigh Davis Hockman, granddaughter Geri-anne Hockman, 3 great grandsons, niece Patricia Thurlby and her daughters Katie and Hailey.
