

She was a member of Theta Kappa Chi High School Sorority in Washington, D.C. and attended The University of Maryland. Virginia worked at Meritime Commission in Washington, D.C. during high school and college. She also worked for ten years at DRCS Directorate of Reserve Component Services at Fort Sam Houston.
Virginia was a devout Christian and was previously a member of St. David's Episcopal Church and an active member of both Schertz Church of Christ and Crestway Church of Christ. For many years she taught Sunday school at St. David's and Schertz Church of Christ.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Willard Shipley and Esther Johnson Shipley and husband, Capt. John A. Lynch III Ret USA.
She is survived by her son, Alexander J. Lynch and wife, Jeanette; daughter, Lori Lynch Becknell and husband, George P. III; granddaughters, Alexandra Becknell, Cassandra Lynch, Danielle Becknell; grandson, A.J. Lynch II; sister, Barbara Miller; niece, Ellen Rice; great niece and nephew, Kristin McHugh and David Rice and beloved family friend, Roger O. Jarvis.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 14, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Porter Loring.
