

Virginia Pena Montez lived a full life lovingly devoted to her husband, 9 children, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, a great-great grandchild and long-time friends. Our precious mother died peacefully at home surrounded by her family after being called by her Lord Jesus Christ on February 19, 2015 at the age of 83. She was a life-long resident of San Antonio, member of St. James Catholic Church and civil service retiree. She worked at Kelly Air Force Base retiring in July 1991 from the Air Force Commissary Service (AFCOMS) as a computer equipment analyst. She had 28 years of service receiving numerous awards during that time span. She was an active member of the Luther Burbank HS Booster Club, and tirelessly volunteered to work on many fundraising activities for her children’s varied sports and band organizations. Her joyful, nurturing heart and humble compassion enriched many lives. She will be cherished forever.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 52 years Rodolfo Daniel Montez; daughter Virginia Estell Montez (15 years old); parents Ramon and Dolores Pena and sister Janet Palomo.She is survived by 8 children: Debra (Charles) Felder, Rodolfo (Silvia) Montez, Carol (Juan III, d.) Ramirez, Joseph (Susie) Montez, John (Melissa) Montez, Noel (Janet) Montez, Jacqueline Montez and Monica (Manuel) Baldazo; Dolores Montez, Yolanda Montez; 38 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild; extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at Trevino Funeral Home, 226 Cupples Road, from 12:00-4:00 PM followed by a Rosary beginning at 7:00 PM at St. James Catholic Church, 907 W. Theo Avenue. On Monday, March 2, 2015 there will be an 8:30 AM Mass at St. James Catholic Church followed by a procession to Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery for a 10:00 AM interment.
