

Wallace John Schneider, the only child of John August Schneider and Elise Voila (nee Henderson) Schneider, ended his earthly life and entered his Heavenly home in the early hours of July 4, 2016 with his family at his side. Wallace was born at Scott and White Hospital, Temple, Texas on September 8, 1930. He was 85 years of age.
He was a proud 5th generation Texan having spent his early years living on the Schneider Ranch in San Saba County, then later moving to the J.W. Henderson Ranch in Llano County. His parents then moved to Fredericksburg where he attended school through the 10th grade at which time they moved to Brownwood. He graduated from Brownwood High School in 1948. His college days began at Daniel Baker College which later merged with Howard Payne University. Here he earned his B.S. degree in 1954 and his Master's degree in Education in 1959. He began his teaching career in Willow City, Texas at the age of 19, serving both as teacher and principal. His career in education lasted for 42 years, retiring from Northside Independent School District in 1992. He was proud of the recognition given to him for his faithful dedication and service to the state by the House of Representatives in 1990.
He proudly served his country as a clerk-typist in the U.S. Army. Being stationed in Ludwigsburg, Germany presented him the opportunity to travel on weekends to visit many well-known historical cities and places of great interest. Wallace and his wife, Joyce, have enjoyed traveling throughout their married life, having been in most European countries, Canada, Alaska, Mexico and forty-three states.
Wallace was a member of Alamo Lodge #44 AF&AM for over 37 years and is a Past Patron of Texas Chapter #35 Order of the Eastern Star in which he and Joyce were active members. He also held former memberships in the High 12, San Antonio Accordion Society and the San Antonio Knife and Fork Club.
On August 1, 1964, Wallace and Joyce J. Beavers were united in marriage in Childer's Chapel, Travis Park United Methodist Church. He was proud to be a 5th generation Methodist and was a long-time member of Travis Park UMC. His current membership was with University United Methodist Church. Wallace and Joyce had one child, a devoted son, Dale W. Schneider. Wallace is survived by his wife, Joyce; son Dale, daughter-in-law Yvonne and two precious granddaughters, Olivia and Evelyn, all of whom he held dear to his heart.
The family wishes to thank his many doctors who have kept-him-going: Dr's Rabinowitz, Villarreal, Machel, Malik, Schwartz, Weisenthal, Langlois and Linda Hill.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 8th from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM in the Chapel at Porter Loring on McCullough Ave.
