He was a proud veteran who served in the US Army Air Corps during WWII.
He was a CPA in Dallas and San Antonio.
Walter was a former member at First Baptist Church in Dallas and an active member of First Baptist Church in San Antonio, where he served as a deacon in both churches.
His passion was in his flower garden and he was a member of the Rose Society and Chrysanthemum Society of Dallas.
Walter is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Augusta Brunner Rietz; beloved wife, Mary Louise Rietz; son, David Rietz; four brothers and two sisters.
He is survived by his children: Ronald Rietz and wife, Sandra; Marilyn Rietz, and Daniel Rietz; sister, Margaret Quitta; numerous nieces and nephews, and many wonderful friends and neighbors.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 9, 2010 at Porter Loring.
