It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our amazing Dad, Wayne Elroy Stewart on March 15, 2023. He was born in Pasadena, CA on April 27, 1944, to Ardys Stewart (Welch) and Elroy Stewart. Wayne was a devoted father and had a great love for his daughters, Alice Stewart and Annie McEntire (Stewart). He had a special loving relationship with his son-in-law, Kerry McEntire, whom he enjoyed teasing with his great sense of humor. They enjoyed talking cars with one another. Wayne loved going with the family to car shows and hot rod nights.
He has 4 grandchildren who love and adore him because he was a fun and loving Grandpa. Granddaughters Lauren Chemleski and Kristal McEntire, and Grandsons Christopher McEntire and Myles Stewart McEntire who carries on the Stewart family name. Wayne so very much enjoyed watching them all grow up. He did not have an opportunity to meet his great-grandson Ari Chemleski in this life but was very excited for his arrival this April. Wayne also had two sisters, Ardel Stewart, and Eileen Crawford (Stewart) who he loved and had fond memories with.
Wayne was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Ardys Stewart (Welch) and Elroy Stewart. Along with his brother, Charles Stewart.
Wayne was a hardworking man who was proud to have worked on the A-12 Avenger II, the first stealth bomber for the U.S Military while working for McDonnell Douglas Aviation Corporation in southern California. In his spare time, he enjoyed building hot rods, working on cars and being an amazing mechanic. His daughters always referred to him as “MacGyver” because he could fix anything with a stick of gum, a paper clip and roll of duct tape. He was a big fan of ZZ Top and the Rolling Stones. He was also known as the “animal whisperer” due to his ability to calm any animal with a gentle touch. He loved all of God’s creatures.
Wayne will be forever remembered by all who knew him for his kindness, his generosity to those who needed help and his ability to be grateful even in the hard times. His children take great comfort knowing he will continue to walk with them through life until they are in his arms again because a Father’s love never dies.
