Wilford Howard Bendele

Wilford was preceded in death by his parents, Lillie K. (Hoffman) and Oscar Louis Bendele, his brother and sister-in-law, Oscar Lloyd Bendele (Lorene), his sister, Lillie Mae Moos, and son, Alan Bendele.

He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Bendele Register (Ted), his sons, Randall Bendele (Melissa) and Michael Bendele (Tracy), and brother-in-law, Earl Moos. He dearly loved his six grandchildren, Lauren Saegert Barton (David), Blake Saegert (Paula), Amber Bendele Brown (Brandon), Colton Bendele, Lily and Zoey Bendele. His three great-granddaughters, Maddie Saegert, Stevie and Meredith Barton, provided him much laughter.

Wilford, known by most as PeeWee, was the youngest of three children raised in the rural area of NW Bexar County on a farm/ranch. He graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1952, served two years in the US Army, worked as a diesel mechanic with VIA Bus and Northside ISD, and finally worked in utility construction alongside his eldest son Randall. Some of Wilford’s greatest joys were barbecuing, gardening, deer hunting, fishing, and always, family time.

A visitation for Wilford will be held Thursday, February 15, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Road, San Antonio, TX 78238. A Rosary will be recited on Thursday, February 15, 2024 at 7:00 PM at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 16, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church - Helotes, 13715 Riggs Road, Helotes, TX 78023. A committal service will follow on Friday, February 16, 2024 at 12:30 PM at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, 9925 Leslie Road, San Antonio, TX 78254.
