

He was born in Quitman, GA on August 11, 1933 to wonderful parents, Francis and Lena Long.
He was a business owner serving the agriculture industry in Southern Georgia before relocating to San Antonio, TX in 1994.
For 21 years, Ervin proudly served his country through the Korean and Viet Nam War, including time in the Army Special Forces, 101st Airborne and the 82nd Airborne. Ervin served his country with honor before retiring in 1971 and returning to his hometown of Quitman, GA.
He accepted a position with Powell's Farm Supply, Inc., becoming President of the company until it's closing in 1987. He moved forward, establishing his own company in Quitman ~ Brooks County Feed and Seed before selling it in 1994.
He retired to San Antonio, TX with his wife, Myrna, to enjoy time with his immediate and extended family.
He is a member of the Grand Lodge of Georgia Sholto Lodge 237 and served as a Past Worshipful Master.
Ervin served the Lord faithfully as a devout member of Quitman United Methodist Church in Quitman, GA and later as a member of Oak Island United Methodist Church in San Antonio, TX. Through his faith, he pursued a good life by treating his fellow man well and availing himself to people with questions on faith to aide them in their journey through life.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Myrna G. Long; his parents; and brother, Francis Cornelius Long.
He is survived by his three children: Lynda Long Baker and husband, Keith of Dothan, Alabama; Michelle Cox and William (Bill) E. Long, Jr. both of San Antonio; brothers: Leonard Long, Rodney Long, Charlie Long and Hugh Long and their families. He was also blessed with four grandchildren: Lyndsi Widner, Lance Widner, Garrett Cox and his wife, Jessi; and Ana Baker.
We were all fortunate to have been blessed with our Father in our life knowing he enriched the lives of so many, he will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 16th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Porter Loring on McCullough.
