

Willie Wright, MSgt, USAF, Retired, a devoted husband, esteemed veteran, and cherished member of his community, passed away unexpectedly on April 12, 2024, while visiting San Antonio, Texas. He was born on October 25, 1949, in Laurinburg, North Carolina, to his loving parents Eldora and Roosevelt Wright, Sr.
Willie's life was marked by a profound dedication to service. He embarked on a remarkable 20 years journey of commitment to his country, joining the United States Air Force where he would find both purpose and love. It was within the ranks of the Air Force that he met his beloved wife, forging a bond that would withstand the trials and triumphs of military life.
Together, Willie and his wife traversed the globe, their service taking them to various corners of the world, from the bustling streets of San Antonio to distant lands overseas. Willie's exemplary leadership and unwavering dedication earned him the esteemed position of DoD, Flight Chief of Philippines Security Forces during his tenure in the Air Force, a role in which he served with distinction and honor.
Upon their retirement, Willie and his wife settled in Florida, where they cultivated a peaceful and fulfilling life together. Amidst the tranquil surroundings of their home, Willie embraced his role as a loving husband, supportive friend, and pillar of strength within his community. His warm smile, compassionate spirit, and steadfast character endeared him to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Willie is preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Roosevelt Wright, Jr., Larry Wright, Alma Wright, and Walker Wright.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Hazel E. Wright, LtCol, USAF, Retired; daughter, Kimberly Denise Allen; grandchildren, Kamari & Miles Harris; brothers-in-law, Dr. Samuel Henderson, his wife Jayne Henderson and Jimmy Lee Collins, his wife Janie Collins and numerous extended family members and friends.
Willie leaves behind a legacy of service, integrity, and love that will continue to inspire generations to come. Though he may have departed from this world, his memory will forever remain etched in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to call him family, friend, and colleague.
A celebration of Willie's life will be held on May 5th, 2024 at a private location where friends and family will gather to pay tribute to his remarkable legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Air Force Enlisted Retirement Village in Willie's honor.
