Wyatt was born in Blakely, Georgia, to Vivian and Eugene Walters, also of Blakely. Peggy was fondly called "the prettiest girl in town" by those who knew her. Wyatt's mother was later re-married to Army Officer Rufus B. Davidson, and the couple soon transferred to the Panama Canal Zone, with Vivian's children, Wyatt and Collier, joining them later. The family lived on various military installations including Barksdale Field in Shreveport, Louisiana, and Scott Field, St. Louis, Missouri. Wyatt attended Lindenwood University in Missouri, and graduated from Northwestern University with a major in speech and drama, having become a member of Delta Delta Delta Fraternity. Wyatt pursued her dream of stage performance in summer stock plays in Maine, and later lived in Greenwich Village, New York, performing in off-Broadway plays. One of her favorite roles was as the ingénue in "The Boyfriend." Later Wyatt became an account representative with McCann-Erickson advertising firm in New York. After her father passed away, she relocated to San Antonio, Texas, to join her family, where she met and married Lt. Frank Owen Redman, a pilot with the USAF. Wyatt enjoyed a career as a military wife, and particularly enjoyed several overseas tours in France, Germany, and London, England. Wyatt was involved with Officers Wives' Clubs on different installations, enjoyed playing golf and bridge, and entertaining. The couple retired to San Antonio in 1969. Wyatt loved the Lord, was a longtime member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church (Altar Guild, Daughters of the King, Wedding Guild), loved First Presbyterian Church for 40 years (Adult Bible Class and Women's Circle), and her book club. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and Tri Delta Alumnae group. Wyatt most recently resided at The Towers on Park Lane. She was a most gracious hostess, a true Southern lady, and loving and supportive mother to her three daughters.
Wyatt is survived by her family, daughters, Robin Redman Haltom of San Antonio, Vivian Redman Underwood of Anchorage, Alaska, and Shawn Redman Ponton and husband, James Ponton of San Antonio and more recently from Fort Worth, Texas; grandchildren, Jennifer Louise Haltom of The Woodlands, Texas; Claire Johanna Wyatt McKay and husband, Brendon McKay of Wasilla, Alaska; Alexandra Kathryn Ponton of Austin, Texas; Victoria Underwood Stone and husband, Ezra Stone of Palmer, Alaska; Wyatt Parkhurst Ponton of Nashville, Tennessee; great-granddaughter, Madelyn Chanel Stone of Palmer, Alaska.
The family would like to thank Dr. Mark Nelson, her personal physician and friend for many years, as well as her caregivers Dolores Valdez, Lorie Hernandez, Letty Mata, and Gloria Hernandez, for their devotion and love, without whom Wyatt could not have lived life to the fullest in her latter years.
Wyatt's viewing will be at Sunset Memorial Park, Austin Highway, Friday, November 13th, 5:00 - 8:00 pm. Services will be held at First Presbyterian Church, Saturday, November 14th at 10:00 am. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Park.
