

She enjoyed crafting with her mother and trips to the casinos with her Uncle Jesse, Aunt Rosa and friends. She enjoyed shopping until the doors closed and lights went off in the stores. Camping, gardening, traveling and fishing were some of her favorite things to do with her daughters and their father, when they were growing up. She had a love and passion for dancing and carried that love to her daughters as well as her great grandchildren.
Yolanda's life revolved around her family, her furry pets and her dedicated service to her community. A devoted animal lover, she found immense joy in the company of her cats, and beloved three-legged dog, Chachita, who were constant sources of comfort and companionship throughout her days.For 21 years, Yolanda served diligently in civil service, as an accountant & union president for DFAS, dedicating her time and talents to making a positive impact on the lives of others. Her commitment to public service was a testament to her selflessness and her desire to contribute to the greater good.
Yolanda's greatest joy came from her role as a grandmother. She adored her grandchildren with all her heart, delighting in their every achievement and cherishing every moment spent in their presence. Her love for them knew no bounds, and her legacy of warmth and affection will live on in their hearts forever.
Those who were fortunate enough to know Yolanda will remember her infectious laughter, her bubbly personality, and her quick wit. She had a gift for bringing joy to those around her and could light up a room with her presence. Her sense of humor was unparalleled, and her generosity knew no bounds. Yolanda's kindness and caring nature touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her, leaving behind a legacy of love and compassion that will endure for generations to come.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jose Leyba Sr.; brother, Jesse; late husband, Pedro Vilches III; and beloved dog, Chachita. Yolanda is survived by her daughters, Jessica Flores (John) and Angelica Vilches-Carr (Cedric); her loving partner, companion & caregiver Ramiro Barrera; grandchildren, Johnathan Peter Garza, Michelle Garza, Amiee Garza, and Cedric Peter Carr; great-grandchildren, Jessiah Urias and Jeremiah Urias; mother, Rebecca Leyba; and siblings, Joe Leyba, David Leyba, Mary McMillon, Linda Kozar, and Terry D. Leyba.
Though she may be gone from our sight, Yolanda will forever remain in our hearts, a shining beacon of love and light. May her spirit soar free, knowing that she was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Thursday, March 21, 2024, at Porter Loring Mortuary West (located near SeaWorld).

Reception and gathering to take place following the internment at Crownridge Ministries located at 4635 Grossenbacher, San Antonio 78245.
Interment will follow in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Johnathan Peter Garza, Cedric Peter Carr, Shaun Leyba, Ramon Moreno, Steven Moreno, Roger Moreno.
