Alice J. Luna was called home to be with our Lord and Savior on June 12, 2022, after complications from an illness during a brief hospitalization. She was born Elidia Elisa Juarez “Licha” on February 2, 1933, in Colton, California. She met her lifetime partner, David R. Luna, at The Michael’s Club in San Bernardino, CA where she enjoyed her passion for dancing on most weekends. Alice and David married in 1957, and settled in Sacramento, CA in 1966. Alice and David participated and were regularly active members in their neighborhood parish, St. Philomene’s Roman Catholic Church. After raising her four children, Alice spent her later years as a primary daycare provider for her grandchildren. She enjoyed teaching them how to grow tomatoes, and how to clip and care for her roses in her backyard. Alice loved to spend time in her garden. She always had freshly clipped roses adorning her dining room table when any of her rose bushes were in full bloom.
Following her husband’s retirement, Alice returned to her passion of dancing. She and David enjoyed taking lessons in Country Swing and Line dancing. Alice learned to Tap dance and performed regularly with her group of senior women dancers. Her dance group would entertain by performing various tap dance routines at the Senior Centers around the local area, while David served as the emcee for their dance performances.
Alice is survived by her husband of 64 ½ years, her four children: David (Arla) Luna, Maria (James) Copland, Carole (Steve) Miller, and Deanna Zemovich; her four grandchildren: Nickolas Zemovich, Marcus Miller, Samuel Miller, and Elidia Copland; and one great-grandchild, Alyssa Keenan. In addition, she is survived by her siblings: Ruben (Cecilia) Juarez (San Bernardino, CA), Alfred Palazzo (Rancho Cucamonga, CA), Nancy Gutierrez (Rialto, CA), and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Alice lived a full life filled with the love of family and friends. We will always remember her with love and fondness until we meet again in paradise.
