I met Cookie when I was 13-years-old while riding the bus to Junior High School in San Bernardino, and had remained a close friend for over 55 years.  When we would have our high school dances, I was the one that would do Cookie's hair.  I had to get up at four in the morning to help get her hair up.  She had such long hair that it took forever to do it.  
Even when Cookie and Shortie moved to Hawaii we kept in contact as best as we could.  Then out of the blue she moved to Norco, and we became the best of friends.  When I went through a terrible divorce with my ex-husband, Cookie was always there for me when I needed help.  Even when the miles were far between us I still heard from her each year on my birthday.  I could remember talking to Cookie on her birthday and saying: well now I'm going to be another year older soon.
I knew I could always count on Cookie to be there for me whenever I was in any kind of trouble to help me out.  She was and will always remain in my heart and I will always love and cherish our friendship.  I will miss her terribly.

She will always be Cookie to me.  Ever ready with a smile and loved by so many.  She, like this candle, was the light in so many people's lives.  Taken too soon it hardly seems real.  I'm sure her warmth will live on in her children and grandchildren's hearts. We from her extended Elkin family wish her Godspeed. May the flicker of a candle always bring her giggle to mind.
