

Esther, lovingly known as Paula since her early years, was a vibrant and outgoing child who adored performing songs and dance routines inspired by actress Paula Kelly. Her spirit and joy were evident from a young age, and she brought that energy into her entire life.
She is preceded in death by her parents Margarito and Francis Barbarin, her siblings Jessie Perez, Dolores Uribe Trejo, Margarito Barbarin Jr., and Roman Barbarin, and her first love and husband Ray Gomez. She is survived by her sisters Sabina Ramirez, Jennie Zermeno, Mary Tafolla, and Lupe Martinez.
Esther is survived by her longtime partner Ignacio Roberto Tavera, her children Michael Gomez, Melissa Garland, Margaret Postle, and Melody Equihua, as well as their spouses. She cherished her role as grandmother to her 8 grandchildren and great granddaughter, delighting in spoiling them with love and affection.
Esther will be remembered fondly by her family and friends for her humorous stories, her wisdom, and her spirited nature. She was known for her generosity and kindness, traits that touched the lives of all who knew her.
Esther's career at the Social Security Administration spanned two decades, culminating in her retirement as a Branch Chief in the Office of Disability Programs in Baltimore, MD. Throughout her tenure, Esther demonstrated a strong commitment to public service, leveraging her passion to effectively serve the community. Her role as a mentor to team members underscored her dedication to fostering growth and development within her organization. Esther's legacy reflects her significant contributions to public administration and her impact on those she worked with and served.
Funeral services will be held on July 11, 2024, at 11am at Mt. View Mortuary, located at 570 E. Highland Ave, San Bernardino, CA 92404. A celebration of life reception will follow.
