

Patrick was born on September 4,1964 in Mt. Kisco, NY to Ann Crawford and William Crawford. He received his Bachelor of Arts in philosophy from Columbia University in 1988, and received his law degree from the University of Virginia in 1993. He specialized in tax law, practicing in San Francisco. Patrick was also a professor at the American University law school in Washington, DC. Over the years he contributed a number of scholarly articles to law reviews and journals. Patrick married his beloved wife Irum Hasan-Khan in 1993 in London.
In addition to his passion for critical legal scholarship, Patrick loved to exercise his keen and active intellect in lively debate with friends and colleagues. Patrick had a wide-ranging and deep appreciation of fine musicianship. Some of his lifelong favorite artists were Frank Zappa, Igor Stravinsky, The Grateful Dead, Pat Metheny, Fred Frith, and Henry Cow. Patrick continued to pursue his love of philosophy throughout his adult life. He was a strong supporter of LGBTQ rights, and later in life, a strong advocate for the homeless. Patrick also had a deep love and respect for nature. Throughout his life he was an avid swimmer and downhill skier, and while at Columbia University he was a dedicated crew team member. He had a sharp and trenchant sense of humor, as well as a delightful sense of the absurd. Patrick had a very kind and gentle soul.
Patrick was preceded in death by his parents, and is survived by his four siblings, William, Jonathan, Constance, Amelia, and his partner of many years, Irum Hasan-Khan.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at 10:00 A.M. at Mt. View Cemetery, 570 E. Highland Ave., San Bernardino, CA 92404.
