“TuTu”
September 28, 1941 - November 11, 2025
On the afternoon of November 11th, 2025, our Matriarch, our elegant Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, our Mentor, spiritual leader, culture keeper, light of our lives, Rowena “Rena” Ramos, began her journey home. She was surrounded by her children, Grand children and many family members.
She loved spending her time loving on all 39 of her grandchildren. She was dedicated to teaching her family and the children of the reservation, the culture of the Tribe and sharing stories, so they’d know where they came from.
She loved loud classic cars, music of all kinds, cooking, family bbq’s, and praying. She loved to listen to her family sing “Birdsongs and dancing”. She was strong in her faith and made sure her family was as well. She was very proud of her culture.
She never quite retired from her lifelong career as a cosmetologist and still trimmed and cut for family. She was dedicated to the Tribe and was a pivotal role in establishing early governmental guidelines that helped build her people. She was always helping others and remembered the different groups that would lend helping hands to the reservation throughout the years. She had a special place in her heart for children and along with her husband, James Ramos, began a legacy of Philanthropy with several organizations that serve children in the community. She was very proud that her children chose to follow in their footsteps.
She was born and raised on the San Manuel Indian Reservation along with her 5 siblings, Pauline (Dimples), Roy, Raoul Jr.(Beanie), Sandra, and Carla. She was preceded in death by her sister Pauline Murillo and brother Roy Chacon. She was preceded in death by her loving husband James Ramos. She is survived by her 4 children, Ken (Sean), Alaina, James “Chico” (Terri), and Tommy (Maria). Her 17 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and her best friend and cousin, Linda Paramo, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins, God children and a plethora of extended family and friends.
She has missed her husband dearly and now “they are together again”.
