Amelia Tanedo Salud was born as Amelia Tanedo Puno on January 13, 1943. “Amy” was born in Tarlac City, Tarlac, Philippines to parents Aurelia Tanedo and Cornelio Puno. Her mother died when she was 3 years old and was raised by her mother’s sisters. Amy was an only child and grew up with her cousins. At age 14, she entered college and graduated college at age 18 with a Bachelors Degree in Nursing. At the time, she was the youngest person to graduate from the university. She then was accepted as an exchange student in Nursing at Yale University.
In 1962, she met Rodolfo Salud, who was in the military and was stationed at the Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut. They married on June 25, 1963. Soon thereafter, they had two daughters, Cynthia and Nanette. For the next several years, they lived in various parts of the country on both the East Coast and West Coast, due to Rodolfo’s service in the Coast Guard. Amy worked as a nurse and frequently had to raise her two daughters when Rodolfo was on duty or was temporarily deployed elsewhere. The family settled in the North San Diego County area when Rodolfo retired from the Coast Guard. Rodolfo and Amy spent time traveling around Europe and Asia.
Amy was a great cook, especially of Filipino food. She had a green thumb and their home was surrounded by beautiful roses and orchids. She liked to read romance novels, loved jewelry and always liked to look her best.
Amy is survived by her husband Rodolfo, daughters Cynthia Graciano and Nanette Clippinger, son-in-laws Rudy Graciano and Jamie Clippinger. She had 4 grandchildren - Ryan, Brett and Courtney Clippinger and Tyler Graciano.
