

Barbara was born Barbara Anne Losyk in Brooklyn, New York. When Barbara was 12, she and her
family, which now included her baby sister, Eileen, moved to San Diego where she continued to live for the next 60 years and where she married and had her 3 children.
In 1988, she married Jonas Montalvo from Yuma, AZ and gained 4 grown children.
Throughout her 24 years of marriage, Barbara & Jonas opened her home and her heart
and enjoyed being host parents to dozens of young adults in the international student program.
Barbara’s true passion was being an active and devoted parishioner of St.Patrick’s Parish in
North Park for 38 years and dearly loved being a member of the church choir. She was known
for her passion for reading, her general love of books, classic movies, operas, and her pride in
her grandchildren, Makenna and Michael.
Barbara was the 1st queen of the Ukrainian cottage in Balboa Park in San Diego, CA.
and thoroughly enjoyed folk dancing every week as a young adult.
She will be best remembered for her kindness to others, her sweet spirit, her colorful sunny personality,
and her warm caring heart. She will be missed greatly by her family and friends alike for many years to come.
A Memorial Mass is being held Friday, August 29, 2014 at 10:00am at St. Patrick’s Church at 3585 30th Street, San Diego, California, 92104.
