Beloved Husband, Father, Son, Brother, and Friend
It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of David Carpio, who left this world after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his devoted wife, Michelle, and his beloved sons, Dylan and Jaxon.
David was a man full of warmth, humor, and love — for his family, his friends, his home in California, and even his mischievous cat, Bandit. Known for his quick wit and playful spirit, David had an extraordinary ability to fill every room with laughter and light.
David and Michelle officially became a family in September 2024. Though they never got to take the honeymoon they had planned, their love and joy together filled every day they shared. He adored Michelle — a gentle yet strong woman, a devoted mother, daughter, sister, wife, and friend — and he took great pride in the beautiful life they built together.
He was immensely proud of his sons. Jaxon brought him endless joy with his energy, sports adventures, and “big guy” hangouts with friends. Dylan impressed him with his independence and drive — running cross country, hitting the gym, and learning to drive. David’s greatest happiness came from watching his boys grow into confident, kind young men.
David’s love for life began early. As a child, he cherished trips to Knott’s Berry Farm in his red overalls and backpack, riding the train with his beloved Baba (his mom) — thrilled and startled each time he was “robbed by the bandidos.” He shared a special bond with his father, who he playfully called Moises, when they were hanging out as guys, watching soccer and planning their dream trip to the World Cup.
He was deeply grateful to be embraced by Michelle’s family, who welcomed him as one of their own. He loved her parents, who treated him like a son; cherished Grandma Dyle, who showed him the tender love of a grandmother; and enjoyed a close bond with David and Amy, and their son Dom, who danced the night away at David and Michelle’s wedding and sparked a newfound curiosity for lacrosse.
David also shared countless memories with his sisters — sneaking into Yoly’s bed with Calvin and Hobbes comics, or going to Angels baseball games with Carmen, chasing fly balls during batting practice. He adored his nieces and nephews: wall-climbing and skateboarding with Gaby, sharing secret hangouts with Sabrina, and chatting about dinosaurs and trains with Eric.
He held special affection for his godparents, Papi and Nina — his Papi who sunbathed beside him as a child, and his Nina who always made his favorite croquetas and natilla. He loved his god-sister Maggie and god-brother Danny, who supported him through every stage of life, and his brother-in-law Gilbert, with whom he shared countless sports debates — especially about the Dodgers.
From an early age, San Diego called to David. Trips to SeaWorld to see Shamu cemented his love for the ocean. At home, his Shamu float became a fixture in the family pool — where he spent endless hours laughing, floating, and splashing with pure joy.
David’s circle of lifelong friends from Fullerton and San Diego - “Carp” as they affectionately called him - enriched his life with laughter, loyalty, and shared adventures. He will be remembered for his generous heart, his humor, and his unwavering devotion to those he loved most.
David’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of his family and friends — in every laugh shared, every story told, and every moment of joy that reminds us of him.
David’s greatest joy was his family. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to his GoFundMe, which will help care for Michelle, Dylan, and Jaxon — just as David cared so deeply for them. Link: https://gofund.me/78117cf26
