Dolores A. Tate, age 89, passed away on February 17, 2017 at ActivCare Mission Bay, a Memory Care facility. She was the widow of John Dayton Tate, Jr. her high school sweetheart, who passed away in 1984. Dolores was born in Redlands, California, the oldest daughter of Dale and Dorothy Pence and graduated from Redlands High School. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Helen Dayle Creighton. Dolores and Dayton enjoyed the life of a ‘Navy family’. During Dayton’s 20yrs of service, they were stationed in Astoria, Oregon; Kodiak, Alaska and then stationed and retired here in San Diego, California. They made their home in Clairemont since 1959 with a life filled with the love of family and friends. Dolores had many friends in their neighborhood, was an Alcott Elementary PTA member /officer, and employed as a sales clerk at both Walker Scotts Dept. Store and Dynatone Cleaners. Dolores is survived by her three children: Debbie (Dennis) Wood of San Diego, CA; Dale (Barbara) Tate of Oxnard, CA; and Daryl (Cheri) Tate of Roundup, MT, six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, all who miss her dearly but know she is in a better place now with Dayton. The family would like to thank the caregivers and friends at Canyon Villas, ActivCare Mission Bay and Season’s Hospice for the loving care you provided our mom over past 2 ½ years and Dr. Mann and Esella for the many years of care and love.
