

Donald Douglas Foster, 93, passed away peacefully Friday, February 18, 2022 at the Veterans Home in Chula Vista, California. He was born on July 7, 1928 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of the late George Wesley Foster Sr. and Anna Josephine (Matese) Foster. Donald attended schools in Detroit, Michigan before joining the United States Marine Corps from 1945-1948 where he was a member of the China Marines. He proudly participated with other service members in military reunions and volunteered at his local VFW in northern and southern California. He was a member of the Masonic Order and Scottish Rite. He served on the Advisory Board of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, and putting together models and puzzles. He is survived by his wife, Judith (Nellen) Foster, daughters Susan Gamero (Jeremy), Carisa Moody (David), Teresa Alonzo (Israel), Marily Foster, Robin Church, Carolyn Hancock, and sons Jimmy Foster (Kathleen), Donald Jr. (Sharon), and Randall Church as well as many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Josephine Hoskinson, Gertrude Poma, and Marilyn Foster, and four brothers, George Foster, George Foster Jr., Robert Foster and Joseph Foster. The family would like to thank the staff of the Veterans Home of Chula Vista for all of their loving care of Donald. His final resting place will be at Miramar National Cemetery.
