

He was born in New York City, on August 22. 1924, the
son of the late Edward James and Sophia V. (Bartz) Price, and brother of the late Edward James Price Jr. (Mignon) of Charleston, South Carolina, and brother of Richard William Price (Ruth) of Santa Cruz, CA.
Doug was raised in Rockville Center, Long Island, and after being graduated form the Peddie School in 1943, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy as an Aviation Cadet.
After completing his training, Doug served as a Grumman F8F fighter pilot assigned to the USS Leyte, the first American aircraft carrier to pass through the Dardanelles Strait.
He was Honorably Discharged from active duty in 1949, and thereafter joined the U.S. Naval Reserve where he served as a Lieutenant until 1961.
Following his discharge from active Naval service, Doug attended the University of Southern California and was graduated in 1952 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Management.
In 1952, Doug began his commercial aviation career flying as a navigator and co-pilot for Pan American World Airways. He was based in Tokyo, Japan, where he met and married his late wife, Margaret (Cosson)
In 1954 he joined the Civil Air Transport and served as pilot and co-pilot on numerous missions throughout the world.
In 1961, Doug joined Intermountain Aviation as chief pilot until his retirement in 1973.
Following his retirement from aviation, Doug moved to San Diego and purchased a small business, retiring from that career in 1998 in order to fully enjoy his passion for the game of golf.
For his service, Doug was recognized by the Cuban Liberation Air Force Brigade 2506, awarded two Medallion Awards from The CIA and in 2005 he was awarded the French Legion of Honor.
In addition to his brother, Richard, Doug is survived by his niece, Dale Miller (George) of Rector, PA, nephew Greg Robertson (Keiko) of Rome Italy, niece Suzanne Keuning (Henk) of Amsterdam, Holland, nephew Jerry Price (Jody) of Oxnard, CA, niece Jenny Drejes of Felton, CA, nephew Steven Price of Santa Cruz, CA, twelve great nieces and nephews and three great, great nieces and nephews.
Burial at Miramar National Cemetery will be private.
