

Edie, as she was affectionately called by family and friends, emigrated to New York City in 1948 and lived with her Uncle Michael's family in Brooklyn, New York and later in Pine Bush, New York. She graduated from Pine Bush High School in 1952 and from St. Clare's Hospital School of Nursing in New York City in 1956. Edie met her husband Ben in San Francisco in 1964 and they married September 5th of the same year. Their marriage spanned a 47 and a half year time period and was filled with love, excitement and dedication to each other. Edie and Ben moved to San Diego June 1965, where they raised their four children, Maire, Shawna, John and Ben. Edie is the grandmother of three wonderful grandchildren, River, Sean and Fiona.
Edie was an active member of the San Diego community. She dedicated herself to volunteering with Crossroads Recovery Program, St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church Italian Catholic Federation and Altar Society, San Diego Downtown Lions Club, University of California Sand Diego Bannister House, Interfaith Community for Workers Justice, the Salvation Army, Mary Magdalene Apostle Catholic Community, Center for Policy Initiatives, Survivors of Torture, Townspeople and the Uptown Faith Community Alpha Project. Her smile, hard work and enthusiasm for life will be remembered by her beloved family and friends.
A Memorial Service for Edie will be held 10:30 am on Saturday, June 30th at St. Vincent de Paul Church which is located at 4077 Ibis St., San Diego, CA 92103. Everyone is invited to join us for the reception that will be held in St. Vincent's Parish Hall following the services. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to one of the organizations to which Edie supported in commemoration of her life passions of establishing social equality and generosity.
