"Editha “Edith” Sevilla Espinosa, 63, died peacefully at home on December 10, 2023. She is survived by her husband, Florencio C. Espinosa, her daughter, Jessica S. H. Tai, and her son-in-law, Christopher W. Tai. She was preceded in death by her mother, Casimira Cava Sevilla, her father, Felizardo B. Sevilla, and her younger sister, Josie Sevilla Diaz.
Edith was born in Iba, Zambales, Philippines on November 18, 1960. She graduated from Zambales National High School in 1977. She later went on to attend the University of the East with a specialty in Secretarial Services. Upon graduating college, she worked directly for several judges at courthouses located in Luzon, Philippines.
In her 20’s, Edith lived in Yokohama, Japan to assist in caring for her young nephews, James and Robert. While living in Japan, she enjoyed Japanese culture and was fond of the cherry blossoms. In 1988, she immigrated to the United States, settling down in Northern California, where her daughter, Jessica, was subsequently born. Edith had settled into life in America ever since then, becoming a naturalized citizen, making the US her new home. It was in the early 1990’s when she relocated to Southern California. For the next 20 plus years, she worked in quality for a paper products company, where she was highly regarded and respected for her work ethic.
In 1999, she married the love of her life, Florencio, in San Diego and together they embarked on many adventures. They loved to travel together, taking road trips to visit far away friends and family, national parks and any local hotspots around the destination of choice. One of their favorite pastimes together was also picking fruit at local orchards and farms.
Edith was always known as a kind and caring individual. Her charisma easily allowed her to make friends wherever she would go, whether it was at work, or at church or on vacation. As one of her siblings had said about her, “if I had one friend, Edith would have one-hundred friends.” Her generosity went beyond measures, often donating to those in need at the expense of herself. She was never one to hesitate when someone was in need. Edith was also a wonderful and nurturing mother who always encouraged her daughter to pursue her goals, saying, “if others can do it, why not you?” She loved the Lord Jesus and was a frequent attendee at Shadow Mountain Church in El Cajon, often attending Saturday morning bible study with her fellow church members.
All are welcome to honor Edith’s life by attending the Visitation and Celebration of Life Service listed at the times below. A livestream of the Celebration of Life Service will be available for those who cannot attend in-person."
