Francisco was born on April 15, 1939 to Gregorio Lacap and Eufracia De Leon in Masantol, Pampanga, Philippines. He is the second of four siblings and grew up in the household of his maternal grandparents. In his early years, he voluntarily helped his grandfather support the family by joining him in fishing and farming. He was deemed as one of the best in his community because of his ability to catch crab with his bare hands and also the best diver at that being able to stay underwater for long periods of time. During his life at the province, “Totoy” as he is fondly called, spent a lot of time playing basketball with his friends and winning most of the local leagues. After meeting his soon-to-be wife Belen while on vacation at the province, he proposed to her in 1961. Francisco then migrated to Baguio City Philippines in 1962, got married and started their humble beginnings. He was employed on commission as a walking salesman and Belen was then a dressmaker. Francisco and Belen were first blessed with a son named Robert but lost him a month after he was born. It was not until after 2 years when they had their daughter Fatima.
After a number of years, Francisco discovered the buy and sell business of vintage coins and gold. This venture was then followed by the opening of an antique store which he personally tended to for more than 40 years. His endearing charisma and transparent business ethics developed many friendships amongst his customers, who loved him dearly and eventually became more like family over the years. In his spare time, , he also enjoyed playing Tennis and brought home a number of winning trophies.
Francisco and Belen migrated to the United States in 2004 to join their daughter. This decision was mainly to be with family and help in the care of his grandchildren who he picked up from school everyday until they were able to drive on their own. He kept himself busy with yardwork, gardening and building utility furnishings. He loved watching the news, American action films and game shows like Price is Right and Family Feud. He also loved going to the casino, his version of Disneyland. He was the epitome of love, hope, patience, and courage until the remainder of his life.
Francisco is survived by his beloved wife, Belen, his only daughter Fatima; two grandchildren Alyssa (33) and Vanna (32) and four great grandchildren, Ethan Joseph (5), Nathan Francis (4), Yssabella Hope (9m) and Sophia Yanyuet (1m).
Francisco is also survived by his eldest sister Rosalia De Leon-Castro.
