12/22/23 today I found out that Col. Bruser had passed away😢  My father Duffy Verdon and George were stationed at Camp Pendleton. Even though I am 68 I always referred to him as Col Bruser. I remember years ago he said Diane “ please call me George”. I have been sending Christmas cards to George and family for over 40  years. Today I found out why I didn’t get one last year. George was the last standing man in my dad’s circle of friends.  Rest in peace Col Bruser❤️

We have the fondest memories of Uncle George. I could sit for hours and listen to his stories especially about family and his memories with our dad, Frank Golemi. He was an amazing host during our trips to San Diego and we still feel his love all the way here in Texas! 

As  I suppose others may do from time to time occasionally I will journey back to times, places and people who have and always will have a permanent  place in my heart. Quite awhile back I was fortunate enough to share some of the most  truly enjoyable and happy times of my life with Georges oldest daughter Lori...a most beautiful caring and loving individual in her own right. Yet...I had no idea how this relationship with Lori was going to bless me with the rest of her family especially her dad. You see I am confident that if George had it his way I would not have been his first choice to be with his daughter. And yet, this outside, hard nosed military man treated me with kindness, love, and dignity that I had never received from any other person in my life. For this reason, like Lori, her mom, David, and Angie, the colonel will always have a seat in a most special place of my heart! And although I am completely saddened to hear of his passing I am so appreciative to this man for allowing me to be a brief part of his and all of his families  wonderful life! I love you  George Bruser and now may our wonderful creator keep you close to his heart.

May the memories of your dad comfort you and know he loved you as much as you loved him. My heart is with you .

Lori & Angie took turns rotating every 3.5 days caring for Uncle George 24/7 for more than a year...including sleeping nights on the couch in case he needed anything.  Uncle George received the very best care.

Never a dull moment, he loved to make us laugh.

George had some close calls….thankfully it wasn’t time for him to leave the planet!!!!

Goodbyes are so difficult….His niece Suzanne had to return to New Orleans and had to say goodbye.

Laughter is important and we had some great moments with dad allowing us to be silly.

His family meant everything to him and they adored him…especially all his nieces!

Dad’s 90th brought our family from Chicago out to help celebrate…

Dad loved his nieces Deborah and Suzanne like they were his own. He became their surrogate father.

Cousin Donna drove out from Chicago to help for a couple weeks and ended up staying over two months !

Incredibly lucky and blessed to have her in our lives, Lourdes brightened dad’s mornings and took care of him with love and respect. We owe her so much….

Dad had a good friend in Seth….treated him like a son.

He loved David so….it was a tragic loss for all but especially dad.


Dad had so much patience with us while we cared for him. . He remained a good sport through it all.

Celebrating a life that added so much LIFE (!!) to our lives in the 40 years we’ve been neighbors.   I’m happily remembering our many travels and fondly sharing this picture I took of Diane and George during our 1994 fall colors road trip through New England.   He was a loving hoot whose antics will always leave me laughing.   Our love to you, sweet Diane!   ellen!

My sincere condolences to George’s family. He will be greatly missed.  His love for his family was frequently expressed with endearment. As true to his character, he also often shared his unapologetically honest wit. Indeed, his humor was for the secure ones. He was helpful to our family on several occasions, was always there to offer a hand (and tools), and was a great friend to my Dad. I have many fond memories of George, one of my favorites was of his telling me how he refused to leave his Poway house during one of the devastating area fires choosing to fight it out to protect the house himself, while he was in his late 70s! He also gave excellent restaurant recommendations for the French Quarter and the surrounding areas which we found were spot on the best. He was an impressive man on several levels and I am truly saddened by his passing. I hope he and my father are laughing together now and into eternity. With love, Julia (Murray) Morris
