

Born in Tianliao Township, Kaohsiung County, Taiwan, to Ban-chun Chu and Ping Chen, George lived a full and vibrant life. He had 3 older brothers, one older sister and 2 younger brothers. He was the 5th sibling. He graduated from Feng Chia University with a degree in business and began his career in air cargo sales, where a professional introduction would lead to his greatest partnership — meeting his future wife, Connie.
In 1970, George moved to Los Angeles, California, and later earned an MBA from Southern Pacific University. On April 15, 1972, he married Connie in Los Angeles, and together they built a life filled with love, hard work, and shared values. George was a dedicated business owner in both Los Angeles and San Diego.
George was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Connie Chu; his children, Jason and Joannie and their respective spouses, Anita Chu and David Au-Yeung. His grandchildren include, Emma Chu, Elsa Chu, Aidan Au-Yeung and Ryan Au-Yeung. His remaining sibling that survives him is his older sister, Fu-Tze Sun.
Known for his storytelling, George often entertained and educated others with rich tales of his childhood, family heritage, and historical insights. He was passionate about travel, had a deep appreciation for good food, and loved his home country of Taiwan. Thoughtful and wise, he was a trusted source of advice for many.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life on June 19, 2025, at 11:30 AM at El Camino Memorial – Sorrento Valley. Visitation with the family will begin at 11:00 AM, with interment to follow at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in his honor to the San Diego Taiwanese Community Center.
George will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
