George Ministeri was born on December 4, 1944 in Boston, Massachusetts. At the age of 7, he moved with his family to Pomona, CA where he attended Westmont Elementary School, Marshall Junior High, Ganesha High School, and Mt. San Antonio College. George married his wife, Marlene, in 1993. Together they made their home in Upland, California where George enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren, participating in Mass and activities at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, attending family gatherings, and watching George’s favorite sports teams…Boston Celtics, Boston Red Sox, and New England Patriots.
Along with his wife of 29 years, George leaves behind his two stepdaughters, Maria Lynn Gonzalez and Dawn Carvajal; three grandchildren, Claire and Ruben Gonzalez, and Gia Manzoni, and niece, Debra Cohen, and daughter-in-law, Daisy Carvajal. Also special in his life were Marlene’s family, Jess and Janet Kraus, Jeff and Margaret Sinnot, Jaime Raeanne Trahern, and Steve and Bernice Berardinelli, and all of their children. George also leaves behind three sisters, Joanne Bolt, Nancy Barton, and Carol Goff and their spouses.
George was a man of few words, and never wanted to be the center of attention. So, if he could sum up his life, it would look something like this: God, Marlene, kids and grandkids, family, all children, country, New England Patriots, Boston Celtics, Boston Red Socks, and anything Italian.
A funeral mass for George will be held Wednesday, February 9, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Mary Star of the Sea, 7713 Girard Ave, La Jolla, CA 92037, followed by a celebration of life - reception from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
