Ila Mae Chris Isabella Martin

Ila Mae "Chris" Christopher Martin passed away May 12, 2010 in San Diego, CA, after a full, rich life. Chris Martin was born August 29, 1926 in Lena, WI. Chris was the big sister of seven brothers. She attended the Columbia School of Nursing in Milwaukee and the University of Washington. It was in Milwaukee that Chris met Marquette student, Dick Martin, whom she later wed in 1959. She was a dynamic, free spirit who packed a lot of punch in her small, colorful frame. She enjoyed collecting Native American jewelry, attending the San Diego Opera, and shopping and dining at Bazaar del Mundo. Chris was also a docent at the Museum of Man for many years, and was active in her son's school's Parent Teacher's Group. Chris was predeceased by her husband, Richard Nicholas Martin, in 2006.

She is survived by her only child, Greg; her brothers; many nieces and nephews; and a large extended family up and down the West Coast and in her home state of Wisconsin. She will be missed by family and friends, and remembered fondly by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Chris's services will be held in San Diego next week. There will be a viewing Wednesday, May 19th, from 4:00-8:00 p.m., with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Goodbody Mortuary, 5027 El Cajon Boulevard. Funeral mass will be conducted Thursday, May 20th, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church at 4177 Marlborough Avenue.
