There are so many times throughout the year that i find myself thinking "I wonder what Jarvis would say about this", or "I'd love to ask Jarvis about that".  I truly miss his friendship, his knowledge and his willingness to help--whenever asked.
May his soul rest in peace, and may his family continue to be proud of him as a real and true human being--that left us far too soon.

If anyone had an arch nemesis growing up, mine was Jarvis. Growing up in Midland, everything I did and tried to excel at, Jarvis was there, challenging me, smiling and laughing, making it look easy, setting the bar. Taunting me. Jarvis was the guy who made it look easy and like he actually enjoyed everything we were being forced to do. At the same time, Jarvis was always my friend and the person that I could have fun with and look forward to seeing while we waited, nervously sweating in music contest hallways or playing music in retirement homes. When you grow up with someone like that they leave an indelible mark on your life. Like a brother. Over the years we always stayed in touch. We partied together in college, we met up in San Diego and in Montana with our kids. I’ll never forget being at the San Diego Zoo and seeing Jarvis roll up with 3 year old Conner in a stroller sipping on a huge soft drink bigger than his head. Lots of these memories pop up when I think of Jarvis. And always laughing. So much laughing. Jarvis will be missed and never forgotten by me, Grace, and my family. My parents and Eileen and Paul also send their heartfelt condolences. He left us too soon but he left us with great memories and we are all better for having known him. - Phil


Dear Aiyee, Uncle, Joe, Ting, Susie, Carlin and Connor,

We send our deepest condolences from our whole family to yours. Jarvis and I literally grew up together. There are so many memories our families have made together - being fed together in our high chairs, shooting rockets at the school playground, Jarvis teasing me calling me “Mei-Mei” and all I could do was to call him “Jar-vis”, going to each other’s houses for dinner and mah-johngg, together in classes (too many to count), playing in orchestra, Higgins Lake, all of us kids playing Wink and laughing so hard we were rolling around on the carpet crying, graduating together, meeting in San Diego and Glacier National Park with our babies, and so many more.  

Most recently, Jarvis reached out in May to see if my parents were ok during the Midland floods and again in September when Oregon was on fire and we were close to being evacuated. He was checking on us to see if we were ok and giving us very useful “fire panic/evacuation” advice - so thoughtful and caring. 

When I think back and picture Jarvis over the years, I always picture him happy and laughing. He will be missed by all of us and all those whose lives he touched. We are thinking of you all and sending you all our love. - Grace on behalf of the Lee family

It is with a very heavy heart that I share my condolences with you on the passing of Jarvis.
I first met Jarvis at Enevate when I had been there for only a couple of months. We looked at each other and realized that we were both from San Diego and had both worked at another company for a short period of time.   That was the beginning of what has been for me a very special business friendship.  Jarvis and I often talked about technology, cars, (he was the person who introduced me to Tesla), and family.  I often characterize myself as a “gadget guy”, but Jarvis definitely was even more of a gadget guy-- who appreciated technology and what it could do. Although there was almost twenty years of age between us, I always thought of us as simply co-workers and friends.  I felt a kinship with him that I cannot say I have felt with many other people in my 40+ years of work. I will miss him greatly.
He was a very special person. He was always there if I (or anyone else) needed help of any sort.  He was totally dedicated to making Enevate successful.  He was very intelligent and quickly learned new things. He was always honest, forthright and clear about what was right and what was wrong.  He also had a strong devotion to his family and often told me (when I asked) about what his children were doing.  He was so very proud of their accomplishments.  He was always upbeat. I remember how I marveled at his attitude and disposition after the fire that destroyed your home and the lengthy process of rebuilding.
I am sure that you know, but so many people outside of your family felt an admiration for him.
After I left Enevate in 2017, we periodically got together for lunch here in San Diego. It was always a treat for me.  I enjoyed being with him and treasured our relationship.
The world is a better place for having Jarvis Tou in it, and I am a better person for having known him.
May the memories of good times spent together provide some comfort in this difficult time.

Jarvis was one of the most vibrant and friendliest people we ever met, and truly a dedicated Christian.  He was always committed to doing his best, and we will always treasure our time spent with Jarvis and his loving family.  We pray that God will provide His peace and comfort to the family in the days and weeks ahead.

Jarvis is an inspiration to us - he was so industrious, kind, caring, funny, and giving. When my husband, Zach, and I drove to San Diego to pick up furniture, he helped us move and pack it. We were very impressed not only with his packing skills, but also how kind he was to help us. When we met Jarvis at CES in Las Vegas, he showed us around and invited us to his events. Spending time with Jarvis was one of our highlights of the entire trip. Even when we weren't together in person, he was generous and kind, sharing career advice over email. When I think of Jarvis, I think of a world-class, high integrity, loving person - a role model. My entire family feels fortunate and blessed to have met Jarvis, and he will be deeply missed.

I will always remember Jarvis and his laughter and smile.  He was a great Purdue grad school roommate and a good friend.  I will remember the Rube Goldberg Machine Contest where we won by building a machine that could crack open an egg.  Jarvis was a great teammate and through the years it was always good to catch up on our journey.  Susie our prayers are with you and the family.

Jarvis was one of the nicest men I have ever worked with.  He is truly going to be missed.  

Blessed to know Jarvis at Purdue and for years after.   He was always an innovator, musically talented and generous with his joyful personality.  Always smiling.

Dear Tou Family, 
Please accept our condolences from myself and the Dyson technology research team. I've known and worked with Jarvis over 10 years. He is a man which I respect and enjoyed working with during that time. He was witty and joyful to work with as he walked through things logically and practically. Truly a top guy which myself and the Dyson team will miss in our endeavors to build technology for the betterment of our world. Jarvis made a difference and always caused positive change.
