Jean Marie Mount

Born in Bellevue, Ohio, Jean Marie was the daughter of Edward D. Swenson from Taylor, Texas and Gladys B. Stalling from Lorain, Ohio.

She attended Miami University earning her Bachelor of Science in Education.

As a first grade school teacher for 42 1/2 years, she was warm and encouraging while challenging her students to stretch and grow. After retirement, she became a volunteer extraordinaire! In 2005 she received the Newcomer of the Year Award from the California State Senate for contributing over 400 hours of service to ElderHelp in one year. For years, Jean Marie aided and served many friends and members of her church community as their health declined. She said it was her mission in life, following the example of her mother.

She was a friend to many, known for her quick wit, sometimes biting humor, and most of all her smile and love that she shared generously.

She loved cats; Ginger, Teah, and Frankie, held a special place in her heart. But her heart also opened to a special canine companion, Misty, who walked by her side as she recovered from knee surgery and kept her company daily.

A visitation for Jean will be held Wednesday, February 1, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at El Camino Memorial - Sorrento Valley, 5600 Carroll Canyon Rd, San Diego, CA 92121. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, February 1, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, 5600 Carroll Canyon Rd, San Diego, CA 92121. A graveside service will occur Wednesday, February 1, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM, 5600 Carroll Canyon Rd, San Diego, CA 92121.
