IN THE CARE OF
El Camino Memorial - Sorrento Valley & Memorial Park
Jimmie "Juancit" Ugalde Fontecha was born in San Felipe Zambales, Philippines, on August 11, 1926 to Domingo and Crispina Fontecha, and he was 5th eldest child of 7 - Stanley, Virginia, Maria, Felix, Rosita, and Arsenia
We know Jimmie as a generous, fun-loving Husband, Brother, Father, Grandfather, friend, and U.S Navy Veteran, who was a lover of the horse races, dancing and music, playing mahjong, his grandchildren and a provider of good food. He also enjoyed apple pies with a coffee, a good glass of wine while playing cards, attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, and family outings where he occasionally enjoyed ordering a whiskey with one ice cube.
He took pride in the many places he got to visit while he served in The U.S Navy including, China, Japan, Singapore, India, Saudi Arabia, Australia, Korea, Samoa and Panama.
He was loved by many he shared his life with, including his wife Leonida Fontecha of 67 years. Their marriage brought cherished children, grandchildren and friendships into his life. He embraced everyone and all who knew him hold a bit of his story.
Jimmie died peacefully at his home on March 7th, 2023. His wife, his children and his eldest grandchild was by his side.
He will be most remembered by the way he always said
“I love you all so much”
