Joan L. Robles, born in Michigan on July 7, 1931, a resident of San Diego since 1950, passed away December 10, 2025 in a local nursing home, at the age of 94. She was with loving family and caregivers.
As she joins the Lord and her late husband, John A Robles, in glory, she will be deeply missed by her blended family of children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, her siblings, and the many loving friends and people she met throughout her life.
In the 50’s, Joan she worked for the telephone company as an operator and later worked at the main library, downtown. She ended her career with the City of San Diego Water Department, where she was often the lone woman in an office of mostly young men beginning their careers. She loved guiding these men as they planned for their futures, relished their accomplishments and celebrated their milestones with a great pride. Many of these men also worked with John before he retired after 35 years with the Water Department. The bonds were strong. Joan was there as
they married, started families and many became her extended family along the way. Some of those dearest to her were with her just days and hours before she passed.
She loved her people, Hallmark movies, shopping, and chocolate.
There are many words that could be used to describe Joan. She had a very generous heart and a wicked sense of humor.
She was smart, dedicated, and exuded love in many ways. She overcame some very difficult circumstances throughout her life.
Our heartfelt thanks to the CNA’s, nurses, and staff of La Jolla Post Acute for all the years of loving care, and to Mission Hospice for your support and guidance through her final days.
We thank you all for your love, messages, calls, beautiful stories and prayers, and know she will live on in all of our hearts.
As Joan did not wish to have a service, we are honoring her wish to be cremated and for some of her and John’s ashes to be scattered at sea, sometime in the distant future.
