John Mock, 73, of Carlsbad, CA, passed away from esophageal cancer on July 9, 2018 surrounded by his family. John was born in Torrance, CA on May 3, 1945 and grew up in Manhattan Beach, CA. After serving in the Army during the Vietnam War, he graduated from San Diego State University and married Mary Azling on August 23, 1975. He and Mary lived in California until 1984 when they moved to Kenilworth, IL, where they lived for 16 years before returning to the San Diego area in 2000. John had a distinguished career in commercial real estate management, working for 22 years with Coldwell Banker Commercial. In 2002, he embarked on a new chapter in his life when he co-founded LMS Real Estate Management, where he worked until his passing.
John was an avid traveler, cyclist, and wine enthusiast. A very proud grandfather, John’s kindness and generosity were admired by all who knew him, from family to friends, neighbors and colleagues.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years Mary of Carlsbad, CA, daughters Jennifer Stoll (Michael) of Kansas City, MO and Katie Mock of Anaheim Hills, CA, sister Debbie Bowers of Arroyo Grande, CA, granddaughters Claire Stoll, Charlotte Stoll, and Harper D’Erasmo, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Leo and Lucile Mock, and sister Patricia Ann Mock.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, July 28 at Solana Beach Presbyterian Church at 11AM.
