Jose Barte Zara, age 94, of San Diego, California passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2025. Jose or “Joe” was born and raised in Philippines. He was the 6th of 8 children of which only one younger sister survives. Joe was married to Rosita or “Rosy” for 59 years until her death in 2016. They were both very devoted and faithful to each other. They are survived by their 3 offsprings named Gay, Jolly and Glee and 3 grandchildren Gavin, Cydrx and Joshua.
He and his wife were elementary school educators after which he was promoted as a principal for various elementary schools in Batangas Province. After retiring he worked in the insurance business and eventually migrated to join his wife who was staying with their oldest daughter in the US at the time. He lived in Texas for 14 years and then moved to LA and then San Diego where he lived with his son until his passing.
Joe was a very intelectual man. He was a master of skilled writing and vocabulary par excellence. Friends and family would come to him for advise because of his methodical and analytical thought process. He was thrilled when approached for his opinion.
Joe was a man of God, a very devout catholic. His devotion to his religion started when he was young serving as an altar boy at the town church where he was born. He was very active in the church when he was in the Philippines. He was a lay minister for the Catholic Diocese of the Basilica of the Immaculate Concepcion in Batangas City. It was his faith that carried him to the end towards a very peaceful death which he never feared. He was ready to meet his Maker and be reunited with his loved ones especially his wife. Because of his faith we know that he is in our Lord God's kingdom together with our Mama and his parents and siblings.
