My condolences to Justin Bartlett's family,  friends, and partners Lauren and Dio.  He was a wonderful and twisted kreator of unique art...definitely one of a kind.   My heart sank when I read the opening line of the update that was posted on January 9th.   His art will live on forever and will continue to influence younger artists for years to come.  Rest in Peace Justin...VBERKVLT forever.

I am at a loss of words but this man created the faces for music that has changed my life and I couldn't be anymore grateful for his work he's done. I wish Justin and his family the best wishes.

I will always remember your unique and creative Thai cooking and imaginative recipes, with lots of spice and life.  You introduced me Thai psychedelic music that brought back memories of my home country.  Your kindness and friendliness will continue to live on with all of us.

Justin, you were such a talented young man. You were always very friendly and kind to me when I visited the family in San Diego. It breaks my heart that such a gifted, handsome and intelligent person died at such a young age. My heart breaks for your family's loss. I know they love you very much. Words are not enough to express the sorrow I feel each time I realize you're gone, but words are all I have. I hope there's a heaven so that you can be reunited with those who love you someday.

Though Justin and I never got to hang out in person, we have been internet friends for years. From the days of WEEDCORE and wumpus, trolling the metal+Korn boards on AOL, to trading tapes/VHS/bootlegs etc. He was a good dude and I'm glad to have known him, even if only through the web.

 RIP brother, I'll miss seeing your perspective.



I only knew Justin through our talks on Instagram but I'm infinitely happy I had the chance to do so before it was too late. In our talks Justin came across as kind, passionate, dry-witted and always eager to help or engage in discussions; be it health and nutrition, music or art. He was an artistic power-house, but most importantly, he was kind. My life is better for getting to know him a little bit, and I'm so very sorry that he's gone.

Huge loss to the art and music communities. Really enjoyed Justin’s work over the years, especially all the little details he put into his pieces to make them truly special. My condolences to Justin’s family, friends, and other loved ones. 

Sending so much love to you all in your grief. I can tell just how loved Justin was and I hope that you all find peace. My heart goes out to you.

At 27 I almost gave up drawing. This guy made me keep on doing it. Thank you forever!

A few years back I went through a very terrible break up. I was depressed and hopeless and so alone, because my work had ended and everything around me kept moving. 

I don’t remember anymore how I stumbled across Justins arts, but I remember distinctly seeing it and have this impression of relief at seeing something that looked like I felt. It made me feel less crazy and isolated. 

Further, it inspired me to be freeer and more expressive in my own art that had always been quite rigid, and picking up a pencil through his inspiration became like therapy to me. 

I will never forget how much it meant. Thank you.

So sorry for the loss of your wonderful Son. May your memories of him comfort you during this difficult time of grief. He will live on through you.

So sorry for the loss of a great brother, son, and friend. The world misses him. 

I wrote a big paragraph, but apparently this thing has a word limit.  That’s ironic and something I think you’d laugh about! So, I’m just gonna leave it at I’m sorry you had to go old friend and I’ll miss you a great deal.  I’ll never forget our discussions, as I sit here looking at the £300 vinyl player you insisted I buy to avoid damaging the one vinyl I play every few weeks! It was an honour to be your friend and I feel incredibly privileged to have known you all these years and to have learnt so much, particularly about the niche points you’d get hung up on, because those are the things which change the bigger picture, and if you pay just enough attention, I learnt you can see the bigger picture and vibe before it’s actually there, just like your art.  That’s something which has carried over into my personal and professional outlook on things, and I guess it’s a lesson in speaking your mind at the time and stamping around until your voice is at least recognised.  Making a point, something you were very good at doing.

Justin and I were mutual admirers of one another’s work and we became online friends. Justin gave me advice and direction in terms of being a professional artist. He shared with me his personal experiences and wisdom and I feel very grateful for that. I will miss seeing his new projects and I am sad for his passing. Deepest condolences to his friends and family and to the community. 

As others have said, I didn't know Justin personally but his artwork has left a huge impact on me. It's hard to impress how much his visuals have transformed a lot of records from good to great.

I always looked up to Justin because he never was afraid to challenge mine and others music opinions and would often have such an off beat opinion I would think he was nuts but then I would often internalize his opinion and think “damn he is so right about this” so thank you Justin for always making me think differently about music and I’ll be playing DARKTHRONES- GOATLORD forever in your honor.  You’ll never be forgotten 

I didn’t know him but I knew his work and he was a true original.
The art world is less without him.

I did not know Justin personally, but his work was a singular presence in the heavy music scene, representing so much of what so many people around the world love about the various genres he touched. I hope his family can find some peace in knowing how many lives his art touched. Condolences.
