
Kathleen “Kitty” McClatchy, age 68, died at Mercy Hospital on November 17, 2016 from cancer-related complications with family by her side. She was born April 5, 1948 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to the late Francis Joseph Hogan and Geraldine “Geri” Wiesbrock. She graduated from Antelope Valley High School in 1966. On April 18, 1970, she was married to Herbert “Herb” McClatchy, her high school sweetheart, in Lancaster, California. In 1972, Kitty and Herb moved to San Diego where they lived out their years together raising their son, with Herb passing away in 2006. For more than thirty years, Kitty worked as a professional in the legal field. She was known mostly for her witty sense of humor. In retirement, she spent most of her Saturday’s with her grandson where she enjoyed teaching him how to play chess, taking long walks and visiting local San Diego attractions. Kitty had a passion for reading which led her to her lexical interests and her wealth of knowledge on many topics. Kitty was loving, kind and engaging and is survived by her son Will, Teresa her daughter-in-law, and Joseph, her grandson; brother Patrick Hogan of Lancaster, California; many friends and numerous nieces and nephews of Lancaster and San Diego, California. Funeral services for Kitty McClatchy will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, December 16th, at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery on Catalina Boulevard, Point Loma.
