Kathleen L Pritscher, born on September 15, 1954, passed away on January 28, 2026, at the age of 71. A long time resident of La Jolla, California, Kathleen was known for her adventurous spirit, flair for style and fashion, and spicy personality.
She was born in Attica, IN and grew up there and in West Lafayette, IN, with her older brother Michael.
She graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Retail Marketing and promptly went off to the northwest to work at Nordstrom. After several years she longed for a warmer and drier climate, ending up in La Jolla, CA, working at several of the high end department and specialty stores. She was a self-proclaimed La Jolla girl who truly knew everything about the village. She continued this work for the next 20 years.
She subsequently changed direction for several years to work as an Activity Director at several care facilities in the area. She certainly enjoyed the people interaction and helping make others lives more fulfilling.
Kathleen usually had a pet cat around for company. She knew how to select one from the local shelter that had definite personality. Nothing laid back. As with her friends, she fed off such a strong personality.
She was beloved by many. Her faithful and hard-working nature touched the lives of all who knew her. Kathleen was a wonderful, loving, special lady and shared 27 years with her partner, John Laiche.
She was preceded in death by her Mother, Carolyn (2011), her Father, Francis (2013), and her brother, Michael (2025).
A Celebration of Life will be held in her honor at El Camino Memorial - Sorrento Valley, located at 5600 Carroll Canyon Rd, San Diego, CA 92121, on February 22, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
Kathleen's memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
