

Lawrence Joseph Sandage was born on December 20, 1944 in San Diego, California to Joseph and Nellie "Ruth" Sandage. He grew up in Pacific Beach and graduated from Mission Bay High School in 1962. Larry and his wife June met as a children when June's parents started attending gospel meetings. As their parents became friends, Larry and June became childhood sweethearts. Larry asked June to marry him on a summer day while they were walking home from the beach, surfboards in hand. They were 15 and 14. Three years later on September 21st, 1962 they were married. This summer they were planning to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. Larry spent his professional career working in the Fire Sprinkler Industry and as a Real Estate Investor. He began working at Grinnell Fire Sprinkler Company in 1962 as the gardener. He quickly worked his way up and was the General Manager within 5 years. In 1973 Larry left Grinnell and started his own company, Sandage Fire Protection. He sold that company in 1976 to Wall Street Investors and then started his real estate investment career. In 1978 he started Action Fire Systems, Inc. Larry loved working with people and was glad to be in a position to offer opportunity to many people. Larry loved going to gospel meetings and spending time with friends. He enjoyed surfing, fishing, skiing, traveling and laughing with his family. He leaves behind his wife June; sister Linda Cobb; children: David Brent, Kirsten, Jake; and 5 grandchildren: Kira, Devon, Shai, Davy and Mykaela. Larry will leave a lasting impression with any and all he came in contact with. His memory will be cherished and his legacy will continue.
