I wrote this essay about Gma Letty when I was in 6th grade and wanted to share it with family and friends...

Eulogy from July 20, 2018, Funeral Mass, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel. Part 2 of 2:

As you can imagine, my Ate Letty was so pretty that she had many admirers and was often asked to participate in beauty pageants.  But when she met the love of her life, Carling Vila,  She happily became his wife of 37 years and together they raised 4 children:  Melissa and Susan are here with us today and Gilbert and Maggie are still in the Philippines.   After her husband passed away, my sister came to the states with our mother.  She worked hard and took care of our mother until her passing. In turn, it was her daughters that cared for her.  Melissa and Susan, thank you for the sacrifices you made to give your mom the best care.  On the morning she passed away, my wife and I were on the way on a flight from Virginia.  Sadly, I was too late.  When I arrived, I received the sad news of her passing.  This poem expresses how we feel:

BROKEN CHAIN
We little knew that morning
That God was going to call your name
In life we loved you dearly
In death we do the same.

It broke our hearts to lose you,
You did not go alone,
For part of us went with you
The day God called you home

You left us peaceful memories
Your love is still our guide
And though we cannot see you
You are always at our side.

Our family chain is broken
And nothing seems the same
But as God calls us one by one
The chain will link again.

It is with sweet sorrow that we say our final good-byes to this dear beautiful soul.   Rest in peace, Ate Letty, we love you and miss you.  


Eulogy from July 20, 2018, Funeral Mass, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-Part 1 of 2:

Good morning, everyone!  I am Rudy Bojo, the 2nd child of Rafael and Constancia Bojo of Luisiana, Laguna, Philippines.  In behalf of my siblings Betty and Ner, our spouses and all the children and grandchildren, thank you all for joining us to honor the life of my sister, Letty Bojo Vila.  

This occasion is so heartbreaking for all of us--the family members and close friends of my Ate Letty.  Today, we bid our final goodbyes to one so dear and who was a light in our lives.  There will always be a longing for her to fill again the space she once occupied and the activities we each enjoyed  with her.  Most of you knew my Ate in her later years, but for me, she was my childhood companion and friend, and so I wish to give you a glimpse of the girl she once was.

Ever since she was young and to the day she passed, she was a beauty, inside and out.  Her smile, her laughter, her kindness and generosity, her caring, nurturing, thoughtful ways won her many friends.  She had a fun-loving personality and everyone loved just being with her.  Ate Letty was one of the most popular girls in our hometown.  She was invited to every party and was a great dancer.  As her younger brother, I was so proud be around her.  When we attended college in Manila, I still fondly remember how caring and nurturing she was of me.  She made sure I ate well three times a day and was always mindful of me. Sharing my eulogy for Ninang Letty last July 16, 2018:

Good evening, my name is Eleanor Pe, wife of Jonathan.  The few memories I have of Ninang Letty she was a very poised woman, very gentle, very caring, always smiling, very gentle with the kids.  We’re very honored she is our Ninang in our marriage of 16 years now, very honored to have her as one of our godmothers.

Ninang Letty is a good role model because she was very strong in her faith as she practiced Catholicism at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel. She’s very religious and if you don’t mind me sharing Ate Lissa, the day before she passed, her mind is still strong.  The day before she passed, she was able to receive a blessing from Fr. Anthony, the Pastor at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel.  Although she was weak, she was able to make the sign of the cross and she was able to speak to Ate Lissa about his visit so she knows until a day before.  

She really was a strong woman so I really look up to her and I praise God for having our life with her.  God bless, Ninang Letty. 

Sharing my eulogy for Tita Letty last July 16, 2018:

Good evening everyone, thank you for coming to pay your respects for our dear Tita Letty. My name is Jonathan, and I am one of her nephews. She is my mom’s older sister and eldest of four children. 

She has endured so much in the last 14 years having battled cancer.  She was loved by all and was such a good cook.  She was so thoughtful that she knew what everyone’s favorite dishes were and she tried her best to cook and please everybody. We’re gonna miss your cooking Tita Letty. 

Having seen her suffer so much in the past year I am at peace knowing that she no longer suffers and she is now with our dear Lord Jesus Christ. Enjoy your time in heaven Tita with Tito Carling, Nanay Asing and Tatay Pael.

She was highly loved because of her kindness and generosity.  Thank you Tita Letty for taking the time to cook our favorite foods. I hope one day, my daughter Aleah will be able to mimic your bilo-bilo for she is your number one fan of your special dessert.  I will miss our meals Tita, eating laing together.  I will miss your calls when you say “Jen, I made your favorite, when can you pick it up?  You always put a big smile on my face.  It truly made me feel special because she didn’t have to do those things, but she always did.  I know for a fact that if she did not get sick, I will still get those calls.
The Bible says, to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.  I know that she believed in God, had faith and trusted Him despite of her illness and suffering.  In heaven, there are no more tears, no more sorrow, there are no more pain.  So truly, this is a celebration of her life because finally, she is reunited with our Abba Father, our Maker.

Tita Letty, from my Dad, Mama Sharon, Edgar, Rodel, Nelson and our families, we Thank you for the enormous love you gave us.  We are forever grateful for what you’ve done.  Your life with us will always be remembered and treasured.  Thank you for the wonderful memories.   We love you very very much, you will remain very special in our hearts.  Marami pong salamat.


Eulogy for my Tita Letty....

For those who do not know me, my name is Jennifer Bojo Pulido, I am the daughter of Ner Bojo who is the youngest brother of our beloved Tita Letty.   It is truly an honor to be here tonight to speak about our beautiful Tita Letty. 

As far as I can remember, there was always a Tita Letty.  When I was a child, my brothers and I will get so excited as soon as we find out that Tita Letty, Tito Carling, her late husband, and cousins are visiting our province in Laguna.  That means we will again have the taste of her awesome cooking and for sure, there will be lots of groceries.  It was such a treat for all of us.  They always had something for our family no matter what.  I remember her being so giving and always feeding our family, whether they were visiting or we were visiting them.  

The older we got, the more we appreciated everything about her.  Her love towards us was truly felt, they were more than words.  They were evident in her actions.  We love and admire her because she not only loved her family, but truly extended her love and her arms towards me, my dad and my brothers in so many ways.  We will never forget the countless times that she helped our family. 

Her Beauty is like no other.  She was so beautiful and always looked amazing no matter what.  We will definitely miss her smiles, her laughs, and simply just being around her.

For those of you who do not know me. My name is Beth, I am married to Tita Letty's  nephew, Engelbert, son to Betty Bojo Pe (Auntie Letty's sister).
I just want to share a few special thoughts and memories of our Tita Letty. We all can agree she was a woman of heart. With that said, Tita Letty carried special characteristics of many within her is that I myself and my family can agree on and admire. Tita Letty always remembered each one of us be it birthdays, special holidays...but most of all...to the point of knowing what our favorite foods were that she would make with love. That there, is how you knew how special you are for her to know which of us liked what...Though even after she retired, she gave. She gave what she could and she gave with her heart. Tita Letty  was a tender woman with grace, elegance and poise and said she  always made sure she looked her best when she was out or when she had guests. She always welcomed you into her home with her loving smile and welvoming embrace...We will forever miss and always love her.  Her love, kindness and beautiful memories live through her children, grandchildren and siblings. Thank you Lord for giving and blessing us with the time we had with our aunt.


Sharing my eulogy for Mommy Letty last July 16, 2018 (Part 2):

I sometimes wonder about our family situation in the Philippines, if it is worth it why we are not with our mom and we get to spend our time with her only when she visits us or I come visit her.  We are sometimes jealous of family members and friends who get to see her or spend more time with her than we do.  You should know how all of you were fortunate that you were able to know her, hear her laughter and experienced her warmth and affection.  The last years of pain brought about by her cancer have been difficult for her yet every time she gets to talk to us via messenger or video, it is always our welfare she was concerned about.  We would always kid her that she still thinks we are teenagers when we are almost seniors ourselves.
My mom has lived a life well lived.  Up to the end, her body may have weakened but her mind was sound and her spirit was strong. May I request that you remember her in your prayers.   Remember her kindness and her generosity. If she caused you any hurt during her lifetime, please find it in your heart to forgive her. 
When she was younger, my mom organized ballroom dancing parties in our home in Antipolo.  I witnessed how she and Daddy danced the tango and they were good at it.  Our family grieves for her loss but I now think of her as having that ballroom party in heaven dancing the tango with Daddy, where there are no aches or pains only eternal happiness.
I love you Mommy! 


Sharing  my eulogy for Mommy Letty last July 16,2018:

Good evening, I am Susan and I am the second of four children.
My mommy Letty lived a simple but meaningful life.  A lady from Laguna province in the Philippines who came to the bustling city of Manila to study but eventually fell in love and built a family.  Life was not always easy.   But she  was hardworking and resourceful and together with our Daddy, was soon able to give a comfortable life to our family.  
When our Daddy passed and the opportunity came for her to live in this country, it was not easy for her.  Uprooting her from her home country and living in a culture different from what she knew.  Living with and taking care of our grandmother when she is a grandmother herself.  Having major surgeries for various diagnosed ailments.  Yet those who know my mom can attest that she was able to hurdle these challenges with flying colors. She is a strong and courageous lady! 
When she was able to visit us in the Philippines in yearly trips before she became weak to do so, we always asked her what she wanted to do and where she wanted to visit.  But she was always as simple as before, visit family and church are the priorities.  In her healthier years, she would cook for family her special dishes which everyone enjoyed.

Sharing my Eulogy for Mom Letty, 07.16.18...

Good evening everyone, my name is Melissa and I am the oldest of Letty’s four (4) children. 
On behalf of my family here and in the Philippines, we sincerely appreciate your presence, your messages of condolences and your assistance to us in this heartbreaking time for our family.  
Growing up in the Philippines, I remember my mom’s passion for cooking. She made sure that her favorite meals like beef kalitiran, cocretas and pancit were done perfectly.  She continued to make her special dishes years later when she migrated to the US. As always, it was enjoyed by families and friends.
Mom has always been kind-hearted. She would try to help you in any way she can expecting nothing back in return but a simple “Hello, how are you doing?” 
I saw her pain and suffering slowly on her bout with cancer.  But mom was a strong-willed woman of faith.  She fought her battle till the very end.  Her mind was still strong but her body became very weak.
I am so lucky to be able to take care of our mom.  Thank you Ma, for your gift of life.  Thank you for all your sacrifices and advise.  Please do not worry about us your children and your grandchildren, we will be ok.  I love you so much. Heaven gained a special angel named Letty. Please give daddy a hug and all our dearly beloved family members who have passed on.  Rest in peace Ma, someday we will see each other again.
So today, we celebrate the life of our dear mom Letty.  As you look at her picture giving that peace sign, please try to find peace with each other, please let go of any grudges and love one another and let them know that you appreciate them because tomorrow is never guaranteed.

My eulogy for Mommy Letty, read by my sister Susan last July 16:

My Mommy was a warm, loving and a caring person.  She always went out of her way to help others.  In her life, there were hardships but also huge blessings.  My greatest memories of her are how hard working she was and her love for her family and friends.
The way she touched our lives will remain forever and you will be  missed by all.  I love you so much, Ma.  I wished that we had more time together.

Our parents give us life.
Our grandparents give us a sense of who we are and where we came from.  As we say goodbye to Grandma Letty, it hit me how incredibly lucky I have been to have my lovely grandmother with me for 16 years.

I remember my dear Tita Letty growing up in the Philippines as a sweet and caring auntie with her simple smile and caring ways. When my parents immigrated to the US her and my Tito Carling helped my sister and I process our papers she was like our second mom. Remember all the family gatherings good memories growing up. To our cousins Lissa, Susan, Gilbert and Maggie just our sincere condolences to your family she was a great mom, grandmother and auntie to all of us. It’s always hard to say goodbye but at least take comfort in knowing that she’s in a much better place now no more pain and suffering . We love you Tita Letty and miss you always pls pray for us all.

My beloved beautiful Tita Letty.   I will cherish all the memories we had together when I came to visit you in SD.  My heartfelt sympathy to my dear cousins, Melissa, Susan, Gilbert, Maggie, nephews, niece & the Bojo family.  May you Rest In Peace Tita.  You’re now reunited with Tito Carling & the rest of our beloved families.  Give a hug to Daddy Chito & Mommy Chita.  I will miss you dearly!

I am so glad I had a chance to meet Tita Letty last year when I visited her daughter, Susan,  at her home by Carmel Mountain Road. She had a gracious spirit,  a sweet smile and  I felt joy in her presence in spite of her health problems. I pray for the eternal repose of her soul as she journeys home to her Creator. My deepest sympathy to Susan and Lissa on the loss of their mother and to all members of her family. 

Its really a sad day for the whole family to loose our beloved Tita Letty. No amount of words to discribe the grief and pain but I know heaven is waiting for you together with our dear Tito Carling who my Mom loved so much. Pls Tita Letty give my hugs and kisses to Mommy Lucy and Daddy Ben. I will not say goodbye but till we meet again Tita Letty. 

I love you so much, Mommy. You are now at peace, no more pain and suffering. You will be with Daddy and he will take good care of you up there in Heaven. You will be missed by us, your children and grandchilren. Your memory will live in all of us...forever.
